“You can’t fit a square peg into a round hole.”
In many ways this statement defines what happens to developmentally disabled people in the vocational setting. Nostalgia Services has gone to great lengths to create jobs that work for our clients. We do a thorough assessment to identify an individual’s interests and strengths. Matching people with jobs that parallel their interests gives them incentive and motivation to learn skills that they might otherwise not gain. For example, one client was assisted with starting his own landscaping business, created his own business cards and learned how to invoice customers for services he provides. This allowed him pride in what he created.
Our goal is that each and every one of our clients has an opportunity to feel that their job has special meaning for them and is a source of personal pride.
